Would you recommend this as a good design idea?
I was planning to take the carpet out of my room and just leave the plain bare concrete floor, and sort of make my room into something modern, well attempt to give it a modern feel. Do you think it is a good idea?

Yes, but go with a concrete stain.
This will give it some warmth & flow.

It all depends on what else is in the room; first, even in its bare state the concrete needs to be finished/clean so it looks slick and modern; and second, all other things furnishings/walls/lighting have to contribute to the modern look. Otherwise, your room will project a look of a "regular" room without a carpet.
