Where can i find scrap rubber? refurbishing old billiard table?

i am looking for a sheet of rubber 1/4-1/2 inch in thickness and about 9ft long and 12in wide. i am refurbishing an antique brunswick pool table and getting creative with the ball returns. alternate material suggestions are welcome, but the material needs to have sound deafening and cushioning qualities. i have considered very thin carpet, but dont think that its the way i want to go.
by the way this will not be seen unless you look into the pockets as the table has an enclosed ball return and i am looking for a liner for the ball return. Thanks. also FYI it is a 9 ft slate brunswick centennial from the mid 60's

Leather is always a good choice… Has the sonic qualities you mentioned and is fairly inexpensive.

    Cheers!
