What should I do about my cat? (Now there’s a new option to consider)?

My cat is half Norwegian Forest cat and half Ragdoll. She is about 5 or six years old. She is beautiful, and loves me very much, as I love her very much. She was found on a parking lot, and was perfectly normal until I got my dog. When I got him she went bazerk, and it was obvious she was petrified of him. He stays up stairs, so she stays down stairs, but that's not the problem. The problem is that she stopped cleaning herself. She often smells like urine, and her once pink rear-end is now very dirty and smelly. Not only that, but she scoots along the floor while licking herself like crazy. My parents said that she isn't allowed out of the laundry room (which is where we keep our cats when were not around) because we have new carpet. I would give her frequent baths, but she fights so much that it is extremely difficult, and a multiple person job. The problem is, my parents wont help me because my dad doesn't do anything for our animals and my mom has "better things to do". My kitty also gets REALLY knotty, which I try to brush her often, but I don't usually get to it. I try shaving the knots off but she struggles and it is so hard to see her skin, and I don't want to hurt her. At my house, we don't take our pets to groomers, although I've asked my mom to take her before and make her nice and clean. I volunteer at a no-kill humane society and I know my family wants to leave her there. I want to do what's best for my cat, and I don't know what that is. I love her, and am just trying to be a good cat owner! Please help!!!

Okay, so I originally had that in a question on here, with the additional information that no friends or family will take her, and she can't go to my uncle's farm because she'd be outside and she's declawed.

Today, my mom and I were talking about it, and apparently my dad has a friend who'd take her. This friend lives on a farm and raises hogs. Plus, when my older half brother went into the air force, she took his cat. My kitty would have to stay in the barn, which I think would be safe, but I'm worried about a couple of problems if I decided on this:
1)Wouldn't it be too hot? She is a Norwegian Forest Cat/ Ragdoll mix after all. We live in Missouri, and its too hot and humid for me! plus, she's used to air conditioning. I know the barn doesn't have air conditioning.
2)She's declawed. True, living in a barn and being fed she probably wont need claws, could being declawed still be a problem?

...I don't know, I just really want what's best for my cat!
Since her problem started when the dog came, I'd like to clear up any confusion. There is no getting rid of the dog. Why? Everyone in my family loves him, which other than me, no one seems to love my cat.

This poor cat. You want to find her a new home. She was at your house first. First she gets terrorized by a new dog, and then she gets locked in a small room because you have new carpets. No wonder why she is not grooming herself she is depressed and lacking human contact. I think the best bet would be to rehome her with the no kill shelter you volunteer at. She needs an inside home with no dogs where she can feel safe and get the love and attention she needs.

A good question;my Norwegian Forest Cat who was declawed, but not
by myself, was like yours and I took Bella in when she was nine years
of age.If you want the dog more than your cat,I would check out
Norwegian Forest Rescue (Missouri) and see if this rescue group would
take her in.Please consider keeping her and giving up your dog.5 years
of love is a long time.Don’t force her to go from the comfort of a home
to the filth of a barn.

Have you had your cat checked for worms? Scooting is not normal for cats. I know if a dog scoots, they may be wormy or have something stuck to their rear, or need their anal gland expressed. But I would see if the cat has worms first. Worm pills from the vet only cost about $10.

As far as putting her outdoors, she would be fine temperature wise, but if her fur is matting now, a barn won’t be helpful.
I would do as someone else suggested and find a Norwegian Forest adoption or rescue.
Sorry to hear she has to leave, but first see if your parents will get her checked by a vet. Something so simple could make a big difference.

    Best of luck.

I’m confused at what the question is? Are you asking for tips on how to bathe your cat? Are you wondering how to stop him from scooting on the rug? Are you wondering if he’d be ok in a barn? I’m confused at what you’re asking. You might want to take out some of the words and be more direct with your question.
