It refers to something from the east, the Orient. "Orient" comes from the Latin meaning to rise. The opposite term is "occidental" meaning west, derived from the Latin meaning to set or fall.
If you look it up in the dictionary….it REFERS to anything from the EAST.
Cause, you know…it MEANS Eastern.
