What do you think of the name of my new business?

I am starting a business to sell handmade antiques and rugs from the Middle East and Africa. Wondering what you think of the name "Bab Elsama".

a) Does it give the impression and feeling of authenticity?
b) Does it give the impression of the east?
c) Do you like the name in general?

Note: "Bab elsama" means "Door of the sky".

I agree … unless you know the translation it is meaningless.

Listen to the way people will pronounce the store…
    will it be Bab Elsama
or will it be Babel Sama
    or Babels Ama

it if means Door of the Sky.. why not

You should name it something can pronounce and know the meaning of. You want people to know what is sold at the store and be able to tell others about it. I would take something from that culture and give the store that name in English.

i like the name when i know the translation, but to people who don’t know what it means it is confusing and hard to pronounce.

Definitely your name gives an impression of the east.
Try out the name in which it gives an impression of the business you carry on i.e. handmade antiques

‘Bab’ makes me think of someone’s kindly grandma, and elsama makes me think of a king from the middle east or something. I like the name, I like the meaning, & I would like telling people I bought something from bab elsama, cause it would make me feel exotic. =]

No. Find a name that people can relate to immediately. Not in a foreign language.
