Solve using the five-step problem-solving process.

A rectangular Persian carpet has a perimeter of 240 inches. The length of the carpet is 30 inches more than the width. What are the dimensions of the carpet?

    2L+2W = 240 or L+W = 120

    L = W+30.

    Plug in first equation and you get W+30+W = 120 or 2W = 90,

    W = 45.

    L = W+30 = 75.
