Puppy wet on wool rug?
I am puppy sitting for a couple that just got their puppy. She has wet on their wool rug. It is a center piece of their living room and is plain green in the center and flowers of different colors all around. I tried a little piece of the flower and it seems to be color fast. What should I use if the puppy decides to go in the center where the color is just green?

Vinegar & water is good for neutralizing the odor, and doesn’t harm colors. Worked with my cat-lady-grandmother’s carpets and blankets.

You can use a wool lite or a product for wool that cleans carpets. You also might want to use a bit of vinegar to get rid of the oder the puppy may pick up and decide to go again in the same spot.

Dilute white vinegar 1pt to 2 pts warm (like body temp) water and saturate that spot. After letting it soak for about 10 minutes, place a white towel on the spot and LITERALLY jump on it to begin to draw the liquid you have poured onto the rug into the towel. Your objective at this point is to "blot" as much of the liquid as possible out of the rug to avoid any wicking and any color bleeding.
This works because white vinegar is an enzyme and the enzymes are activated by the warm water. The enzymes digest the urine crystals and the scent will no longer exist to encourage the puppy to go to the same spot.
The reason why dogs will go to the same spot again and again is that the urine crystalizes but never completely dries. That is also the reason why the only "cleaners" that work are enzyme based.
NEVER use "resolve" or a traditional rug cleaner–only something designed for urine or the vinegar.
I’ve always used the vinegar bath for the rug and then followed by something like Nature’s Miracle.
