Egyptian rugs, especially those that are in areas where tourists flock, are quite expensive. If the rug is hand-knotted, you can expect to pay anywhere from $800 and up at least. Purchasing rugs in the states is a lot cheaper these days because of the economy, and the access to rugs from China and India which, in general, are less expensive and are comparable or better in quality. Persian rugs, which are argued to be the best in quality, are generally less expensive that those from Egypt, so if you are willing to pay Egyptian prices, consider looking into Persian carpets first as these types of rugs hold their value better.
