How would I make a shag carpet?
I have a trash bag full of cloth and i want to make one but i don't know how to. I can't afford to buy any supplies so i just need some at home ideas to make one. I read about using string and a board with nails, then just knotting all the strips of cloth on it. Would this work? please give me some good ideas for this or other easy methods. Thank you!!

The easiest way to make a shag rag rug is to use a latch hook and a latch hook backer. Or an old crocheted blanket from a thrift store. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/452276/how_to_create_a_shaggy_rag_rug_using.html?cat=24

I think you have to braid the rags together first and then you sew them together in a circle. Good luck

You twist strips of cloth, begin in center of rug and sew them to each other as you keep spiraling them, laying twisted strips side by side as you go around and around. You can make an oval, round, long oval. The twisted pieces are overlapped at their ends so they ‘appear’ to be one long piece of multicolored cloth.
The are called ‘rag rugs’ and were very popular in my Grandma’s days. They are still sold in most stores that sell carpets for baths and kitchens. They wash well and wear a long time.
