The fringe has white areas from water that dried on the fringe. How can I remove them?

Soak them with straight white vinegar for ten minutes and the blot it up with a clean white cloth.
Rinse it with distilled water and the blot it up with a clean white cloth.
Repeat the rinse process a couple more times.
Put a fan on it to dry the carpet as fast as possible.
