How do you figure out the sale price on a rug?
If a rug is 200 feet and the price is 11.45 a foot and the rug is on sale for a discount of .25% off. How do you figure the math problem out. Do you divide first and then multiply. What is the mechanical way to figure the math problem out.

Not sure where the "thumbs downs" are coming from because the answers above are correct. The only thing throwing me off here is that you’ve given the discount as ".25%." Did you mean that the discount was a quarter of 1 percent, or do you mean the discount is 25%? Regardless, the mechanics are the same
1. Multiply 200 feet by $11.45 per foot
(200 x $11.45 = $2290)
2. Mulitply $2290 by the discount (I’m assuming 25%)
( $2290 x .25 = $572.50)
3. Now, subtract the discount ($572.50) from the original price ($2290) to get the price after the discount.
$2290 - $572.50 = $1717.50
Note that a quicker way of arriving at the total after discount is to multiply by .75 or (100 - discount rate (25))
