How do I stop my cat pooping on the carpet? He did not do this until we moved. He also now urinates in there.?
Now that we have moved our male cat has decided his toilet is in the dining room. This cat is fixed, litter-trained, and did not do this the first 6 months we had him at the last house. He is an only cat and is usually well behaved and clean. He's a persian, 18 months old. I am going out of my mind.
How do I stop this disgusting habit? His litter box is in the bathroom. He has no health problems. I cannot understand why he's doing this.
The carpets were proffessionally cleaned before we moved in this apartment.

The previous owners probably had a cat who urinated there, yours is simply marking it’s territory. Clean the carpet really well, steam clean it if you have to and it will probably stop.

clean your entire house use pine sol its strong smelling so it will most likely dicourage him from peeing or if he doesnt stop you might want to make him into an outside cat
