nice. good job. i’m proud that your teachers taught you well about plagiarism: just change every other word and then it is your own work :P

i prefer asian as well. not all asians are ‘oriental’ and oriental just doesn’t sound as awesome as asian does. you never hear the term ‘oriental pride’, now do you?

I remember when I took an Asian cultural study class the professor explained that the term "oriental" was offensive.
Doesn’t it mean like west or something?

    I like Asian better.
I consider you Chinese and American.

Whatever you prefer because you will be the recipient of the word. I’ll call you what you want to be called.

    Damn. 105% Chinese ? Well I’m 120% West Africa.

It’s all up to the feelings of the person, you for instance made it obvious you prefer Asian to oriental. Having said that, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a person say "Ah, man, I love those oriental girls." It’s always: "Damn that Asian girl is hot!" or something along those lines.
I’m one of the latter. Love me some "Asian" girls.

In the UK, east Asians are referred to as Oriental, most East Asians refer to themselves as oriental when referring to their ethnic background. One time I heard this Chinese girl say "there weren’t many oriental people in my old school compared to here".
"Asian" over here refers to people of Indian and Pakistani descent. Over here the term "oriental" is’nt seen as offensive in fact it’s seen as politically correct. I never knew it was offensive.

    Cultural differences I suppose.

i prefer either the far east or the near east. asian is ridiculous since it can mean anything. oriental is an archaic term that refers to the region of the middle east all the way to china and really has nothing to do with rugs.
