Cat scratching my oriental rugs!?

My cat is constantly scratching my oriental rugs. They are extremely old and she's just always on them. Does anyone know if she can do any damage to them? If so, is there anything I can put on them to keep her off?

Cats have an aversion to citrus odors, so you could try sprinkling on some lemon or orange scented sprays onto the rugs.

You could also get a scratching post, and maybe rub some catnip on it so the cat will be more incline to use it. That stuff makes them crazy.

Spray bottles come in handy too. If you see your cat scratching, simply spray them with water.

    Hope this helps.

Heck yes she can damage them. If they are that old and valuable, either take them up, or put them into a room where she cannot get into.

Move the rugs and get a scratching post. Put the cat in a different room.

Wash the rug with soap and water. Pick out a soap with a very strong odor.
