Beside Urine what might show on my carpet under black light?

I am trying to clean my carpet of a few Dog stains, I am using a black light to show them well, but thing shows all over. It is not in round spots like the urine, but like something was sprayed on the rug. Since I know the carpet has been animal free until mine (new Construction) I am stumped,
Bought an expensive urine, smell and Pheromone liquid. But will use it all on these phantom stains that may be a waste.

Many things will show up under a black light. But what you explain sounds more like a ‘Scotch Guard’ type product that is on the carpets when new. It helps reduce moisture retention while in storage and limit staining when installing. Most cloth like items will have that on it to keep it fresh before use.

That is one of the VOC’s that people smell in a new house or car. Most are fine but in some new construction the home is so well sealed it causes breathing problems in some people. A good carpet shampoo will remove most of it.

Besides that, many people use spray air freshener or stuff like Fabreeze to freshen up. That too will leave a thin film on many surfaces. I have also seen people use furniture polish and the overspray will make itself all across the carpet, but very rare.

Blood, Urine, Fecal, Sperm, Vaginal Secretions, lint. I have a black light that I’ve used for urine stains myself, but it also picks up other things as well. I’m sure there is more this is what was at the top of the list for me.

I would just have it shampoo’d by a pro and stop worrying. If you get sick incessantly, then maybe replace the carpet. However, I doubt thats the case with you is it?
